Scope of application

This data privacy statement is intended to inform users of this website (subdomain http://statistik.d-u-v.org/) in accordance with the German Federal Data Protection Act and the German Telemedia Act on the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the website operator Deutsche Ultramarathon-Vereinigung e.V. (DUV) . The website operator takes your privacy very seriously and will treat your personal information confidentially and in accordance with the law.
Keep in mind that data transmission on the Internet can generally result in security vulnerabilities. Full protection against access by strangers is not possible.

Purpose of this website

This website is designed to document achievements/performances in the sport of ultra-marathon, in which it publicly provides various statistics and evaluations, mainly (annual) rankings, record lists and runner profiles. Athletes, organizers and fans can get an overview of the performance level in the ultra-run disciplines and compare the performance of individual athletes and age groups. In addition, there is a calendar of events listing ultra-races all over the world. The site is intended to be an archive of ultramarathon sports and shows development of key performance indicators (finisher times, count of participants, etc.) over the years, hence storage duration is not limited.

Handling of personal data

Personally identifiable information is all information that is used to identify your person and which can be traced back to you - such as your name, email address and telephone number.

The storage and publication of personal data on this website serves to uniquely assign a running performance to a person. With the large number of stored athletes there are many combinations of first and last names that occur more than once, often even a dozen times. In order to enable a correct assignment of a performance to an athlete, we need the most accurate and unchangeable information possible.

Why do we save the date of birth?

1. Many personal details may change over time (residence, club, age, even gender), only the date of birth is fixed. In combination with the name it is a very good differentiator for the assignment of performances to runner profiles.
2. The calculation of the age categories according to international rules (IAAF, IAU) is carried out exactly to the day. Having the date of birth, we can calculate the international age category for each athlete's performance at the day of the competition and include it in the rankings and record lists.

The following personal data is stored:

• First and last name
• Club
• Residence (city only)
• Gender
• Nationality
• Year of birth
• Date of birth
• Performances (achieved time or distance) in ultramarathon races
• Age category for ultramarathon races
• DUV membership number (if DUV member)

Some result lists used by us also contain more details about the participants of the races. These are expressly not saved by us. The following personal information will not be stored:

• Postal address (street and house number, zip code)
• Email address
• Phone numbers
• Bank account
• Clothing size

All published data come from publicly available sources (secondary use) and are not collected directly from the visitor of the website. The source is always specified in the result list of the run.
An own data collection takes place only in the following detailed exceptions (server log files, contact form, cookies). These data are generally not published or shared.

Page access data

The website operator or website provider collects data on page access and saves it as server log files. The following data is logged:

• Visited web page(s)
• Time of access
• Amount of data sent in bytes
• Source / reference from which you came to the page
• Browser used
• Operating system used
• IP address used

The data collected are for statistical purposes only and to improve the website. However, the website operator reserves the right to retrospectively check the server logfiles should concrete evidence point to unlawful use.
